as promised...

As promised in my new years post, I wanted to post some photos from the past year.  love

In September I traveled to san francisco with jeston to visit our friend kristin.  We were going to see iggy pop but he "broke a bone"... awwwz.  Seeing jesse was all I wanted to do anyway.
In october I celebrated halloween by carving two pumpkins, watching interview with a vampire, and dressing up like moira shearer in the red shoes.

In August I viewed the mad homes art exhibit, a series of installations by various artists done in soon to be renovated old houses in capitol hill:
In July, I went home to see nana and bruin before starting work at the hospital in early August:
Jeston came to visit me in June!  What a doll:

For my birthday in April, I ate macaroons, watched chungking express, and knit:
and I painted a mustache on my face for april fools day at work (the clients didn't really notice...):
In March, I visited san francisco to see walter and lindsay with jesse.  We went to Alcatraz (apparently they served the best spaghetti at alcatraz...but everyday) and watched escape from alcatraz (its totally possible!), explored hobbit holes in the muir woods, went thrifting in haight ashbury, read books at city lights and looked for the beats, ate amazing sushi in nob hill, ate delicious mexican food in the mission district, touched the waters edge on ocean beach, and indulged in pretty pastries at tartine bakery and pacific puffs.  we also ate the best pizza and had an ice cream sundae with olive oil and sea salt for our birthday dinner at zero zero in the soma district.  what a lovely trip!

In febuary dad visited me!  We saw the oscar nominated short films of 2011 at the varsity theater (my favorite was the crush from ireland and na wewe from belgium), went to discovery park to see wild rabbits, saw the mccoy tyner quintet with bill frisell at jazz alley (they were amazing!), escaped with our lives from the fremont troll, ate sweet potato brioche from the university district farmers market, and saw john cohen and the dust brothers perform at the grand illusion theater for the northwest folklife before viewing a premier screening of his film on roscoe holcomb.  what a wonderful visit!
I also saw many great films, music, and readings this year.  Perhaps the most memorable film screening was kuroneko, which I saw at siff cinema in january and was stunned by the ghostly cinematography and haunting story.  My favorite show I saw was Justin Townes Earle at the Showbox downtown.  If I had to choose, my favorite reading from this year was seeing ben lerner read from his new book, leaving the atocha station, at elliot bay in october. bisous

  1. love the pictures of food, family, friends, justin townes (he is going to be at Mass Moca), pumpkins, jack o lanterns, pumpkin kings and queens, and the spectre of the red shoes. Cows enjoying warm autumn days. Phantoms and apparitions of the past.
