On Friday night, Ryan and I went to Ballard for KEXP's Hood to Hood live music night to benefit the Ballard Food Bank. Neighborhood businesses had my favorite KEXP DJs spinning and hosting local bands. We got seasonal pizza with broccoli rabe and Salumi sausage at the Sunset before heading over to the Food Bank to hear John Richards spin. The night ended at the Tractor Tavern, where we heard the Legendary Oakes and the Horde and the Harem. Both groups had a great Pacific Northwest folk sound and a positivity that was both invigorating and inviting.
