Last night I saw Janelle Monae and Of Montreal at the Paramount theater downtown (its a beautiful theater). I have two Of Montreal albums: Satanic Panic in the Attic and The Sunlandic Twins, both of which have songs I really like (check out oslo in the summertime). I also really like their single, An Eluardian Instance, from their album Skeletal Lamping. I don't really like Janelle Monae's music, but she is a great dancer and her sound kinda reminds me of James Brown. Both performers are super theatrical and it was one of the most interesting/entertaining shows I've ever been to! Kevin Barnes from Of Montreal dressed in drag, there were dancers dressed up in crazy costumes (skeletons, pigs, giant bugs...) during each song, and at the end of the show a dancer came out with a contraption on his head that blew feathers all over the audience! He also ended with a cover of thriller, which was super cool considering Halloween is near. Also, I was really close to the stage so I got to see all of it close up! neat.
