City of Roses

Jesse and I spent a day in portland.  We stayed at mcmenamin's the kennedy school, a former school turned hotel, in ms. drew's room (not detention) and could write on the chalkboard walls.  Getting off the bus, we decompressed with burgers and coffee at little bird.
Then we made our way to powell's books, the largest independent bookstore around.  We got lost in the countermedia store nearby, a comic book and graphic art haven.
After, we admired our literary purchases at a coffee shop next door, which was straight out of portlandia.  Maybe it was the huge, hand-cut ice cubes in my cold brew, the mos def vinyl playing in the corner, the two dudes making friendship bracelet crafts at the nearby table, or even the man made of money who stopped by to ask if they took cards... but something told me carrie brownstein and fred armisen had been there.
Later we found street art and ate fried pickles east of burnside and then dipped into the heated salt water pool in the courtyard at school.  We met up with alexia, the film maker, late night to shoot an update for her upcoming feature, ginger girls, and have our photos taken at voodoo donuts.  Neither of us broke it to her that we are actually day walkers...
