friday the sixteenth

On Friday morning Jesse and I got pho (bourdain's very favorite) and coffee before setting out to do our errands.  Later we got some molly moon's ice cream and went to a reading at the hugo house.  The reading was part of a series called 'end of the line' in which the writers created original pieces inspired by the idea of the end.  Ben Lerner's very meta poem on the process of writing a poem was painfully self aware.  Suzanne Morrison's hauntingly honest and darkly hilarious piece on dying was the highlight of the night.  Afterwards, Jesse and I headed to chop suey to see the raincoats, a femme punk band started in 1977 (it was their first time in seattle!), and grass widow, a post punk trio from san francisco.  Some of may favorite raincoat's lyrics: "my dog, my dog, my little baby dog," and "when you ask me if I’m a feminist I say why the hell would I not be?"  After the show we ate a seattle dog, made special with cream cheese... just like heaven.  For more photos click: here
